Even When Far Away..

While a friend of mine was busy attending to her chores at the rehab treatment centers in california, here in the Philippines, Sendong came and conquered properties and lives. After work, she called friends and relatives and learned, six hours after, about the devastation, and how people survived while others perished in Sendong's wrath. And because she can not get hold of her family, she asked another friend to see whether they are alright or not. Fortunately for them, only their cellular phones were the casualties of the said tropical storm.

On the brighter side of things, she sent in help through one of the foundations handling support for Sendong victims. She said it's the least she could do as she is far away..

Who would ever thought that it could be the last time they sleep, and would never wake up..

Who would ever guess that houses can get so muddied and get truly dirty and messy...
Who would even thought that structures can get damaged and would no longer be of use...
Sendong happened... and like a thief in the night Sendong came without warning, and took away lives and property..

Washing Dirty Clothes: Not Rodeo Clothes

So we started laundry and washed some muddied clothes.. Threw away those that can not be salvaged, while those that can still be washed and cleaned, we washed until they were brightly shining and mud-free. There were designer pants and jackets of my brother's, as well as some down jackets and pants. We laughed at the thought that we were washing muddied clothes after a rodeo, but then again, they were far worse than the after rodeo clothes of my brother's...

I was really tired after washing the first sack. I wonder when we shall ever finish all of the sacks we are trying to save.. Hmm.. Thinking about it makes me tired already..

Here are two amazing islands of Surigao del Sur. I sure wish to go there and visit them in Summer of 2012.. Aren't they amazing to behold.. Much more so if and when I get there---
This one is called Naked Island.. I have yet to discover why it's called that way..

I have always heard of Tubod, Lanao del Norte being the Motocross capital, of the Philippines, yet I have not really witnessed one, considering it is just a few miles away from where I am.
I am glad to have seen all photos shared by Mr. Ronald Zapatos at Facebook and I am able to see that an American guy, Ryan Logan, a freestyler, was able to do a 360 degree back flip. According to spectators and Ronald himself, a rider doing a 360 degrees back flip is a first in Philippine soil. Oh my goodness! That is extremely dangerous.. But he pulled it off with a bang.. wowowee..
Next year, the organizers shall be inviting two other back flippers, so there will be 3 of them by then.. Here's a video of the backflip:

Amazing, isn't it? I wonder how much practice he put in to perfect that stunt.. By the way, do you know who this is?
It's Sam Milby who got the first place of the Celebrity Class with Jordan Herrera behind him...
Isn't he a dreamboat? I have got to see motocross competitions with Sam Milby in it...

CREDITS TO Mr. Ronald Zapatos for the photos and video shared here... Lanao del Norte International Motocross Invitational “2011 World Motocross Series" happened last December 9-11, 2011 in Tubod, Lanao del Norte.

We are at the beach right now. Not that we are enjoying a holiday or so because it is Bonifacio Day, but because we have to be here. My sister's and Lili's cough and cold has gotten worse and having them plunge into sea water is the best remedy. Aside of course from the medication they are taking. So now, to make me work as they plunge the waters, I am here too with my laptop. Only I am afraid as I have no spare battery, and my battery is good only for 3 hours. Six cell batteries are only as good as three hours.

Anyway, I will just have to make the most of my time here. Taking all important tasks to mind, and trying to finish everything before my laptop dies.. So, good luck to me!

It had been so long since I saw skateboarders on the road. Well technically, skateboarding in Cagayan de Oro City had been left on the streets.
There are no more competitions and I thought it will not happen anymore..
Oh, but these photos are not from Cagayan de Oro City..
My cousin shared an album of photos of the recent long board competition that happened in Tungaw, Dulag, Butuan City last month.
I was told that there were also skaters from Cagayan de Oro on this competition..
I sure think that racing on long boards  look like racing on med carts..

Manny Pacquiao Wins Over Marquez!

Photo from Abs-CBN
A lot of people are complaining about the results of today's boxing bout between Pacquiao and Marquez.  Some say that the judges are so wrong to have proclaimed Manny Pacquiao as the winner, saying that there's some fishy thing going on and that the mobs were going to kill the judges if Manny didn't win. My goodness! So much speculations, so much controversies thrown. What irks me is that, they came from Filipinos who may have lost their bets as their wager was for Marquez.. Darn!

Someone share this at Facebook..
They even say that the results were twisted, and so on and so forth-- As for me, Manny Pacquaio won. And I respect the judges' decision. If it were a losing result for Manny, I would still respect the judges' decision.

Pacquiao threw 578 punches connecting with 176 while Marquez threw 436 connecting with only 138. Pacquiao threw 304 jabs connecting with 59 to Marquez's 182 connecting with only 38 . Pacquiao threw 274 power punches connecting with 117 while Marquez threw 254 connecting with only 100.
On the other hand, I wonder if Jinky has a good recommendation for eye-lash growth products.. I sure would love to ask Manny Pacquiao's wife about that because she seems to look more beautiful as ever..

Perhaps this is the most awaited fight of the year.. But, I really do not know what it is about Manny Pacquiao fights. Something just makes the Philippines stand still for all people wanna watch his fights..ergo, no crimes happen when this day comes. No crimes, no traffic! Don't we all love that?

Anyway, I am sure hours later, as it is already 3:50 in the morning, people will be rushing to the nearest place to see Pacquiao vs Marquez 3 live! That is if they have not gotten a ticket for pay per view at home..

So what do people prepare during Manny Pacquiao fights? Usually food good for the entire family plus friends and relatives who are going to watch it with them, or if it's happening at a hotel function, there shall be buffet food. Technically, it would be like a Manny Pacquiao fight party. And it is not just a few families or persons who shall be attending, but basically all Filipinos everywhere. To this I am eternally grateful for Manny Pacquiao.. United Philippines in every Manny Pacquiao fight!

I have not heard anymore of Bowling Invitations since the city has had a series of fun runs with really great objectives. I guess what people do is focus on what makes people have fun while supporting a really great advocacy. The Halloween Fun Run that happened recently is just a good example that organizers try to hit many birds with a single stone. Have a Halloween activity, support the Isang Litrong Liwanag advocacy and make everyone have fun while exercising, meet friends, and many other reasons.

In one way or another, it has actually united Kagay-anons for a good cause. Now, maybe in the near future, when Fun Runs are no longer the in-thing, there shall be bowling invitations for a good cause as well. Although, I think it happened already years ago..

Anyway, here are a few photos I have grabbed from a friend's FB who joined the said fun run.

OMG! What a nun on the run.. But I must say, the said costume is quite unique.
 Stunning!

But what I admire most is that, all have contributed so much to health and wellness, and at the same time, have spread love for the body. As a matter of fact, it has been contagiously affecting each and every kagay-anon..

But then this raffle with huge prizes is truly something else. Well, it will be a Christmas run after all. So raffle items must also be huge..

Men and Rings

What is it about men that they prefer steel rings rather than silver or gold? Hmm. At least the ones who work abroad use gold, thought they kinda overdo it at times, lol.. Seriously, what's wrong with gold rings or silver? They're real and they have more value. Oh well, it's really one's preference and choices in terms of fashion and accessorizing. Men, well, there are not so many of them who are fashion savvy anyway. hehehe..

But then, if you talk about sporty men, not so many of them wear jewelry. Perhaps some bangle or some sleek pendant to go with a thin leather neck piece, or whatever is in style. But mostly, they are worn afterward, not during a game. Well, they need to wear pieces accordingly, so that is just about that..

some other hobby?

Who among you here have done some Online Betting? I guess that is now the trend in horse races. Most blogs on Horse Racing Tips that I have read, almost always talk about doing the bet online. The process is easier and more energy saving, plus winnings can be claimed automatically.

Here in the Philippines though, I have not read of any horse race where the betting has been done online. Usually, people go to the venue, and have their bets there. Then of course, there's the handler who will take care of everything necessary during the event.

In countries like Australia, United States and UK, I have read that they have that there. What's good too, is that, betting occurs anytime, and no need to go to the venue. I am sure if this will happen here, many gamblers will have their heads and shoulders into the game. Some may just want to try once or twice, but if they get the hang of it, I am sure they will also get addicted.

This is one kind of addiction that should not be. Why? Because it entails money. Some people who get hooked have done the worst by betting all that they have, money, property and soon their dignity. Some debts even arise because of said addiction. Worst, there is really no cure, but a change of lifestyle and habits. If coupled by drinking and womanizing, then it brings the family to the pits of hell. So I think, one must quit before she or he is ahead.

On the other hand, there are people who can readily leave the vice after winning once or twice, and yey for them. It takes a strong will power to resist temptations such as winning more. Yeah, one may win more for a time, but the consequences may just be worst imaginable..

Beauty in the Sand Race

It is said that Cleopatra bathed in milk and honey, that was the reason for her flawless beauty. Well, I read another article that said that Cleopatra used premier dead sea sands as beauty secret. She and her maids would bath there every so often.. Hmm.. I would not say that that is not believable, but since I read other articles talking about the minerals at the Dead Sea, and how the sands can have healing effect on the body as much as the skin, then perhaps it can be true. Anyway, I met a few friends a week ago and they told me that they are planning a much awaited reunion. One of the guys spoke about holding it at the beach, and some games were enumerated. One of the games mentioned was Beauty in the Sand Race. And this is why I remembered the articles I read about Cleopatra. So how do you do this Beauty in the Sand Race? It's actually the same as all races, except that the body and face, limbs and all should be covered in wet sand before attempting to walk towards the pointer and back towards the line of the group. If the sands are shaken off, and some parts of the body losses the sands, then that particular participant must fill the bare part with sand, and only then can he or she move forward towards the pointer.. I think it's rather too tasking, but the rest thought it would be fun, and more pleasant than covering the face, body, limbs and all with black ash.. hehehe

Well, maybe it will be fun..

Would you like to win a samsung lcd television? Well, look out for on-going raffles for the Christmas season. I am sure a Samsung LCD television will be one of the many prizes. Why? Well, I heard from someone who works there that three companies have contacted them for discounts as three different raffles shall take place within the city, and most prizes are Samsung products.

hehehehe.. Am I now a spy or what, lol.. Seriously, that first hand information was simply given without even anything in return.  It came out of nowhere even. Let's just say that I always talk when in public transport, and I make friends so easily.. Now, if in case the person was just playing with me, it's not my problem at all as I am not into joining raffles because I never win in any of them. But then again, suppose it were true, then why not try and join so that you can win. Joining contests and raffles doesn't guarantee any winning.. But if you complain of not winning, ask yourself first if you have joined, hahaha..

The Kagay-an Fiesta is done and so I am expecting that events would soon run towards the celebration of the Halloween in our city. I am guessing more Fun Run and more  trade shows. And this will go on towards Christmas. Of course, there shall be birthdays and anniversaries in between. Perhaps some baby shower invitations, or wedding and many others where celebration is akin to life.

I am happy that some people are into fundraising efforts for the less privileged and gift giving activities are aplenty. It seems that everywhere you look, a group or two is planning some sort of a mid-year give away for our less fortunate brothers and sisters. I just hope there won't be any politics involved.

Manang once said that Christmas is teh happiest time for them at the riverbanks, as there are many sponsors who will go knocking on their doors for gifts and money too.

We are not just talking about Pre owned cars in this car show, but those that have been restored, prettified and made more appealing to the users as well as the on-lookers. If you are into this really charming hobby of restoring cars and wish to flaunt what you have done with a vintage model of car, then you better join this car show, and even get invited to join them next year..

Last year's 3rd CDO Invitational Vintage Car Show was a success, and I expect that it shall even be bigger this year. Well, actually, any other jobs and tasks, a sports minded person can handle it fully well. That is what I have noticed so far.. Debt counseling is perfect for those people whose debts have piled up and could no longer breathe through them. I have a lot of friends who complain that they are spending more that how much they are earning, and thanks to their credit cards, they are able to do so. Quite bragging of one's ability to amass debt, which is quite ironic. Well, I have my share of debts too, but I make sure I pay them whenever I can, within my budget.  Problem is, what will happen when you are no longer able to do so, if ever that lifestyle of spending more than how much you are getting will not stop? Then, as a domino effect, everything will trickle down into little problems that when put together, becomes a really scary bomb that is about to explode..

All photos here are from Margie Auyong Velasquez's album at FB..

When I saw this photo at Margie's album, I thought the run happened within Dahilayan Bukidnon..
But when I saw the above photo, I was shocked.. OMG! That's Cagayan de Oro City Hall.. So I went further to look at her photos, and then I learned that it was actually a Cagayan de Oro-Dahilayan Run that started at 3 in the morning last Saturday, July 16, 2011.. and finished for almost ten hours, as what one participant commented in one of the photos.. I do not think I'll ever be able to finish that... so Kudos to all the participants and organizers alike..
Even if there is Lechon Baka at the finish line, I still may not be able to taste it for maybe, before I could reach halfway of the trail, I'd already have fainted, lol..
But for those who made it, I am sure it is not only a very good happy feeling, but generally an experience that is worth celebrating, just like what these tribal folks are doing..
Dahilayan is a very nice place to finish a very long race.. Why? The place is cool, and relaxing.. So even if the participants were so tired, I am sure they had their share of heaven when they reached the finish line..

Again Congratulations to everyone who participated in this race..

I remember the time when we had our reunion and we went on a travel adventure east and west of the city..
From water rafting in the morning to zip-lining in the afternoon..
My cousins and aunts were so cool about said adventures... All of us had fun in the end..
But my folks were fearful when I almost didn't make it.. Huh! Perhaps they thought that ekg machines will be brought to Dahilayan for me, lol.. But then, after a short notice, I came through, and although I was scared at first, I made it! I had fun at the thought that I conquered my fear through the longest zipline in Mindanao and Asia..

Like I always say, every time I am reminded of this, I almost quit the 840m zipline flight.. but in the end, I conquered it! Anyhow, I would rather choose a more advanced river rafting trip than do zip lining again---

Why? The people who are waiting for me to come through are more scared than I, and my dad may have a heart attack while waiting, lol..

Airsoft Tournament

Airsoft tournaments are held everywhere in Cagayan de Oro City and Mindanao, and the poster invitation above is just one of them.. For those who are not adept with air soft, it is a kind of tournament that uses special shooting skills using only Paintball Guns. Of course, there is nothing dangerous in this as a paintball gun is a proven harmless toy that even kids can play with.. It is just that air-soft competitions that adults join into are really relaxing and fun, at the same time, provides the body with utmost exercise, with all the running and almost real battle scenarios where casualties are liabilities to each teams, just like in real battles..

Here in Cagayan de Oro City, the group that is known are the Cagayan assault Group... and they wear this really nice uniform set complete with air soft gear with the following logos..
Told you it is so much like the real stuff.. Below are some of the photos of members of the Cagayan Assault Group in action..

Much like the real battle right? I am sure these big boys just love to play the battle games that this hobby makes them more than interested in ordinary gaming, but joining competitions makes it even more challenging.. I guess that is the reason why there are out of town competitions just like the one on the image poster.. Although costs are included, still, with the exercise they are getting, plus the camaraderie they find, costs are nothing compared with what they get in return.. I read in their forum that there are even more interested persons, male and female alike who wish to join the group for the fun, excitement and exercise included..

So anyway, if you are interested, the details of the tournament are:
