Congratulations Nonito Donaire

0 leaps and a turtle dive
Subscribe to CDO EXTREME by Email Nonito Donaire has reclaimed what had been lost last weekend, so Filipinos all over the world are once again rejoicing for his win, a TKO on the third round, and Mexican opponent, Jorge Arce, fell on the ring as Donaire's left punch took him down. It's another Philippines vs. Mexico battle, and Philippines came in as a winner. Although Donaire still has a long way to go to play on a main event, still, it's Pinoy pride that he brought.
Congratulations Nonito Donaire. You make the Philippines proud..

Playing Music

I should be serious with learning the violin this summer. My daughter and I will be classmates, lol. No laughing matter as I am serious on that. Besides, it's really never too late to learn how.

I can sing, I can even come up with my own tune, but not how to transpose them into notes. That had been my secret dream, even while we read notes as we sang ages ago at the glee club which I belong.

It always helps when one is able to learn what she or he has always wanted to do all his or her life.. If that will not happen, it will forever be a frustration.

Typhoon Pablo Passed

Subscribe to CDO EXTREME by Email We have experienced the worst storm so far. Although there are no casualties in my city, other provinces have lots of problems after the storm passed. A blogger friend from Cateel, in Davao Oriental, says lines were cut off and that there are no more roads or bridges that could help people move. I am glad social media has helped to inform people, I am sure is on their way. Anyway, electricity is back, the skies are clear today, but we still do not have water. Business is back, so as work for most people. But us in schools, we will resume tomorrow. I need to see the guys at the business card printers for the business cards I ordered.

Our lives are back, minus the water supply. But I think we shall be okay. The storm has come to pass..

All efforts towards providing them with food provisions for the provincial meet paved way. The GPTA provided them with beef for their soup, and a whole pig was slaughtered for the other viands all throughout the time. Coaches, chaperons and athletes all deserved the care and support for they all have given the school something to be proud of.

Villards Cup 2012

5 leaps and a turtle dive
Subscribe to CDO EXTREME by Email

I have heard so much about the Villar Foundation and its advocacy to fight poverty, but I have not heard about Villar Foundation’s tournament for a cause until today, as I went through the website of Villar Foundation, at www.villarfoundation.org.  Among the advocacy of the Villar Foundation, which is actually a worthwhile cause as it lends support to amateur players, is the development of grassroots sports throughout the country. For twenty years of service, many different sports programs have been implemented to support this thrust of the Villar Foundation, including Sports sa Barangay, and football clinics. Hmm.. I wonder if they can also have a sports clinic here in our city...
Villards Cup

The Villards Cup had been staged in different key cities of the Philippines and has featured the best Filipino cue artists, or billiard players in what they are usually called, and has paved the way in discovering future billiard players. Who knows another Efren "Bata" Reyes will rise up from among the contestants of this Villards Cup. And I guess there had been many already who have been discovered as this has actually started in 2008..Cool!

Villards Cup

The Villar Foundation, led by its Chairman and Managing Director Senator Manny Villar and Former Las Pinas Representative Cynthia Villar, in cooperation with Star Mall, Puyat Sports and Billiards Managers and Players Association of the Philippines, have staged the 2012 series of Villards Cup billiards tournament last September 23 and 24, 2012 at the newly opened Star Mall in San Jose Del Monte, Bulacan.

Sixteen amateur players from all over the province of Bulacan have qualified for the competition and  below are the complete list of winners of the recently concluded Villards Cup 2012:

1st: Edgie Geronimo (Marilao)

2nd: Eduardo Lim (Meycauayan)

3rd/4th: Resty Labastida (Bocaue) / Roberto Bilicario (Sta. Maria)

5th/6th: Kennet Matheu Garcia (Marilao) / Marlon Glinogo (Bulacan)

7th/8th: Jonas Paolo Ramos (Baliwag) / William Trinidad (Angat)

Villards Cup

Of course, when we talk about billiards, Philippine Billiards legends like Efren ‘Bata’ Reyes, Francisco ‘Django’ Bustamante, Ronnie ‘The Volcano’ Alcano and Dennis ‘Robocop’ Orcollo will always come to mind, and yes, they have attended the said event. I am sure the winners will one day equal, if not surpass the successes of the said legends.. But then, the said tournament is not just for the contestants, but for the fans as well. On the first day of the billiards tournament, Philippine Billiards legends played an exhibition game among themselves, but on the second day, they played with this year’s Villards Cup winners Edgie Geronimo of Marilao, the champion, and of course, Eduardo Lim of Meycauayan, the 2nd placer. I wonder how it would feel like watching legends and winners play. I bet it would feel the same way as I have felt seeing the PBA legends as they played with the locals of Barangay Puerto, remember my post about the Court of Inspiration? Anyway, according to Senator Villar, "Billiards now matches the popularity of basketball among Filipinos, especially the youth. Support for this sport should be encouraged and enhanced," as he led the ceremonial 'break' of the billiards tournament.

Villards Cup

I agree with Senator Villar, but I just wanna point out that those who should take billiards seriously, should also get serious with their studies. As I know, there are many students out there who cut classes just to play billiards. Perhaps, if the time for practice and the determination to succeed in it shall be equal to the energy students put in in their studies, then life will even be better for the next billiard champions.

That is I guess the most stiff questions of all. Why indulge in something when you are not even into it? Right? Anyway, I learned of a different way of flaunting one's jewelry collection, when the owner or the collector is not really interested in using or wearing them. Either the owner flashes them for use by others in a semi cat walk montage, or they get displayed as worn by life sized mannequins.

Maybe it's because of the language used here. People do not really speak English unless they are talking to persons who speak English for reasons that they are not from our city or country. Anyway, the vehicle I rode tonight in coming home passed five drunk men on the street and they were bringing guitars and harmonicas with them. They should have also brought mackie mixer Musicians friend to make them a better band, lol.

You might ask how I knew they were drunk. It's simple, they were playing yet they all seemed to walk in awkward crisscross manner.

That Ride...

0 leaps and a turtle dive
Subscribe to CDO EXTREME by Email I never expected this motorela to be so nice.. It is after all, different from the usual motorela you will find in our city.

I was so impressed, I had to ask who the maker was and how much it cost the driver/owner to have this built. Above image shows the portion of the motorela where one can find the details of the maker..

It's actually worth the amount of P 75,000 for the body to be built. Plus the purchase of the motorcycle to run this thing, as well as the franchise, so roughly, the owner have spent more than a hundred thousand to almost two hundred thousand pesos.

The driver said that in a year's time, he was able to enjoy the returns of his investment. Well, lookie... The motorela looks like a mini jeepney. It's spacious, and it's clean, and it's made from sturdy materials. Much better than all others. And the driver was courteous and friendly..

When the marshmallows melt, we get a piece of chocolate and put them together sandwiched in two separate Graham crackers.. yum..
I am sure the process is fun, while roasting with your friends or loved ones. But being unable to sit while doing so makes me think of fire tables where we can actually sit around the table and enjoy the warmth of its glow while roasting marshmallows for the S'mores and the hotdogs on sticks.. Questions Diluted The Process..

The funny thing about some people, is that, they ask crazy questions. I think that in itself, is an extra ordinary habit. I mean, there are questions that are typical, there are questions that are intelligent, and there are questions that can be out of this world. Like, a man asking, "where can I buy top smartphones in Africa?" And he is asking you who is from Antarctica. Hahaha.. Isn't it strange sometimes how people ask questions such as those?

Silly as it may seem, but these things happen. Not that I judge them badly, I don't! But I can't help but worry. Because if all people ask crazy questions, and not one would have at least a single intelligent question to ask, then what would that say about the kind of world we have right now?

My cousin is part of the Dragon Boat team of their school in Butuan City. I actually got these pictures from her.

It is quite impressive that Butuan City is taking this bold move as Butuan is after all known for the old boats known as Balanghai. Soon after, I am sure the rest of Mindanao will follow suit.

The team have to undergo strenuous exercises as well as take time to train how to row in a coordinated fashion.

Well, it's not just all work..

See them have fun too..

Look at their Dragon Boat. It is quite small compared to those who have been in the competitions for many years.

But with the spirit of the Dragon, I am sure said small Dragon Boat will progress to become the huge one that competes in international waters...

GO GO GO Butuan City Dragon Boat Team..

At Facebook, there is now an online VOTING where people are ti LIKE the photo of five Volleyball superstars in order to determine who is the most popular. They are the top 5 female Volleyball players of the UAAP.

One of them is my cousin, Aiza Maizo. She represents University of Sto. Tomas and I am also a big fan of hers. I ahve campaigned for her to reach the top voted but until now, although voted are getting higher, she is only third in votes. The one with top votes are from LaSalle and FEU..

I will always VOTE for her, and win or lose, I will always be proud of her..

Neighbor's Strange Hobby

0 leaps and a turtle dive
Subscribe to CDO EXTREME by Email Of all the hobbies I came to know, the hobby of the neighbor from downstairs seem weird to me. When we entered the compound the other day, we saw more than twenty computer sets, as if he is opening an Internet cafe inside the compound, but actually, they are all his for his contact abroad and all of them have massive size for data storage, installed by a special data storage software that he had been bragging around the compound.

Anyway, what could be more weird than seeing him and his two other companions turn all of them on from wee hours of the evening until dawn. Then we'd hear Indian music fill their unit while the three of them are dancing. But why turn on all twenty computers? Sometimes I find myself being scared of the follies that their actions may bring. .

Motocross

0 leaps and a turtle dive
Subscribe to CDO EXTREME by Email I was browsing the net for news and stuff and I found out that there was in fact a motocross competition here in Cagayan de Oro City that happened this year. So I stand corrected. I guess I mentioned previously that there isn't any motocross anymore and that I missed it. Well, I missed it alright, but it did happened. The motocross happened synonymous with the Second PANAGSAL-AW Festival of Barangay Kauswagan in Cagayan de Oro City, Philippines. The said festival showcased the Zone 5 (NHA Kauswagan) performers' creativity and vivacity with their interpretation of celebrating the feast of Sr. San Isidro Labrador, the patron saint of Barangay Kauswagan. The motocross competition was participated by local and national participants. Thinking about motocross sure does make me think about accidents, head injuries and bruises. That's why I would always recommend for participants to get a really functional helmet.

Would You Watch Dora the Explorer Movie?

0 leaps and a turtle dive
Subscribe to CDO EXTREME by Email I have seen a lot of Dora the Explorer Movie video, and I find that the movie is not at all suitable for kids, as it was originally meant for.

True as the video is called, college-humor it is, and thus, children should not be allowed to watch Dora the Explorer movie.. Check Related Links:

Handmade Craftsmanship

There are people who really are experts or some had an innate talent and skills with regards to carpentry. And they are able to make and build their own product but just merely looking at the original creation. Skilled craftsman before use or work with manual tools in performing their job but as technology sets in, they too adapt in the new trends.
In fact, there are numerous types of router bits for woodworkers to use, to conserve time and energy. This is what the modern technology can do to the manual labor job. It does not only cut time it also give you more productivity of your work. Yet there are others who are still using traditional tools in making their craft especially the wood carvers. It’s not that they can’t afford the modern technology but it has something to do with the feeling of achievement when the product is handmade finished.
