When Fathers Are Kind..

0 leaps and a turtle dive
Here is a touching video commercial of Rebisco Biscuits. I am not endorsing the said brand here. I am emphasizing something which all fathers should call in mind. When I saw this for the first time, I thought of my daughter and my father. My father has always been kind, to me, to all my siblings, to my mom and best of all, to Lili. Here is a reflection that what parents give positively to their kids will eventually pay off positively. May not be their children directly, but their children's children..

Don't you ever wonder why some parents are abandoned by their children in old age? Often, it is what the parents have done to their children that is reflective of how children treat their parents. I  have always believed in karma. Everything that an irresponsible parent will do to his or her child will eventually payoff.. And even if it won't be the children who will directly give back the same "treatment" to the parent who has wronged his or her child, it will be someone else or some really bad circumstance that is of the same weight as the action..

When fathers are kind, life will be kinder for him in old age.. just like that in the video..

Buy a blog review for $10 and help Baby Bella for her Hernia operation!

0 leaps and a turtle dive
Yes, I am calling on all kind souls out there. Buy a blog review for $10 and help Baby Bella for her Hernia operation!
The mother of the child you see in photo is a friend, a fellow blogger and a fellow Kagay-anon who happens to live in Bacolod. But she is a Kagay-anon in spirit and by heart. In her own way, she has contributed much to the world. As a mother, it pains me to see that her youngest, Baby Bella is in pain as she has hernia. We do not want the same thing to happen to our own kids, right? Surely, there must be something we can do to help, not only in prayers but in finding a solution to their problem. Technically, Baby Bella will have to have her Hernia operated, and money is needed in the process.
We can help raise the expenses needed for Bella's operation by purchasing a blog review from her Mom, Mommy Rubz. A blog review from her PR3 blog. The review will consist of 150 words (all positive) with 2 links (home page link) and an image of the header or screen shot of the blog to be reviewed. One link with the blog title as the anchor text and the other link is on the image.
Please send an email to pehcats@gmail.com with the url of the blog you want Ruby to review.. and she will reply with the url of the post and the paypal id where you can send the payment and if you are generous enough, you can even add more to the $10 price.
I hope whoever will read this post will,  in one way or another, be giving enough to share.. Either repost this request or tell people who you think can help.. And lastly, let us all pray that when surgery comes, Baby Bella will be alright..
Thank you and blessings be upon you..
Bide within the Law you must, in perfect Love and perfect Trust. Live you must and let to live, fairly take and fairly give.
These Eight words the Rede fulfill:
"An Ye Harm None, Do What Ye Will"

Welcome Home Lady bug..

0 leaps and a turtle dive
So finally, the lady bug is home! My brother actually brought him back home last Saturday, but I was too busy to notice. I only learned about it today when Sweet mentioned that my brother is looking for the cheapest chrome trim for his friend's monster truck.

So, as I went home tonight, I rushed to see dear Lady Bug in the garage.. And as if I missed an old friend terribly, I went and gave her a quick brush on her forehead.. Sorry guys, at home, we treat everything as if they are alive. And mind you, they seem to work miracles in that assumption too. Did I mention that the Old Winner saved my father's life when he had mild stroke while he was driving him, and according to my dad, it was the Old Winner that took him to Polymedic Hospital, for he was at that moment,  unable to move his hands and legs.. And thank God, my father was saved.. That is why, no matter how old he is, the Old Winner will never be sold nor be given away.. He sits in my garage so he is under my care now..

Call me crazy, but I often whisper to old Winner's ear to keep unwanted persons away while we sleep at night.. Well, I think he keeps watch while he sits in the garage..

What I have learned from my father is that, cars may be lifeless. They are things. They may be used for transportation only, but like old Winner, things may develop some connection with its owner. That is why in some instances, things are able to do the saving part or rescuing its owner from danger or keeping them away from harm.. I suppose you could say that it's still power of the mind..

Damang: How to Keep Spiders in Shape

0 leaps and a turtle dive
If you look at the video below, you may say that Spider fighting is a very simple sport that children play. But as I mentioned in my previous post, it is no longer a game that children play. It has become a big boys' game where a big amount of money is expected after a game or battle.

I was able to chit chat with two players, both at the ages between 26-34 and I found out that Spider fighting is really a big deal for them as it entails a huge sum of money. I also found out that men from nearby villages come in their vehicles and fight with the spiders of the men from my village. So, to keep their spiders in perfect shape, the two guys I spoke with told me of a secret.

I found out that they also have their spiders take supplements to make them strong and ready for a fight. I couldn't believe that Ensure would ensure that the spiders would be alert and active. Just a few drops to keep a spider energy filled and happy, lol..

Another is providing the said spiders enough room for relaxation.

Both houses above look comfortable for a spider. And in order that the spider will not get injured when they are being let out of their room, a special stick was made to help them out without hurting  the spider's body.

Hmm.. Prior to this information gathering, the two were talking about their scheduled fight tomorrow.

New and Ready

0 leaps and a turtle dive
My BFF just bought a new house and his dad gave him an old family treasure, their old Mitsubishi. But before it was given to him, Daddy FF sent for the mechanic to look into the car's exhaust systems. Lucky enough, it works fine as a new car's. So Bff now has a new house and a new ride. Good for you kiddo...

Now, this enterprising friend of mine says that he will need to have the new house rented out as he will not be spending most of his time here in CDO. It's some sort of an investment really, and a good one at that. Well, I think it is a good idea. I told him he should prepare a contract with whoever will rent the place and have the rent deposited at his bank account, the same way I do with mine. He says it's a good idea and I am glad I was able to help out.

So whoever is interested with renting a new house at Pueblo, send me private message so I can give you his number. It's actually a very good price for a very nice property. And a new one at that. It's ready with furnishings, electricity and water plus you get to enjoy the amenities at Pueblo.

DAMANG: When Spiders Take the Stick..

0 leaps and a turtle dive
Have you ever seen a cockfight? Well, if you have, I am sure you would no longer be surprised to see men taking care of roosters for this special purpose. Here in our village however, I have noticed a really unique game-fight that is not done by cocks but by spiders. Yes, spider fighting is done but no longer by kids.

Young men, college graduates and even middle aged men do the fighting and the funny thing is that, they are like children when they enjoy this unusual sport. Spider fighting is not at all new, as I had been playing with spiders with my male friends back in the days when I was yet conscious that I was a girl and not a boy, lol.. I remember going with my classmates after class and seek spiders in the trees and the bushes. We would capture them and place them in matchboxes that have compartments. I wouldn't have them spiders fight on a stick, but I always watched and I remember being fascinated by  the action, lol...  I was I think 5-6 years old back at the Camp Alagar Kindergarten established for sons and daughters of active servicemen at camp. It was not until Gwendolyn, the daughter of my mom's best friend studied there too that I have a change of friends to go hang around with.

Anyway, in some parts of the country, Spider fighting also exists. Only, the system of the fight is different. But the rules I guess are the same. It's fight to the death of one's spider. The spider that dies is of course the loser. See the photo at the above? That's actually 2 spiders that just fought and the other one that has lost, has already been captured by the winning spider by enveloping the other with its web..

To imagine things clearly, watch this video I found online as I searched for spider fighting.

With spider fights in the Philippines, the process follows that:

  1. It's a spider fight on a stick, if one's spider falls 3 times, it loses;
  2. If one's spider chicken's out and goes the other way instead of going forward to meet the opponent, then it is disqualified;
  3. If one's spider gets eaten by the opponent, of course it loses;
  4. If one's spider loses a leg during the fight, the owner can not call for a break or to stop the game.  However, the spider has to be dead and not just lose a leg to be declared a loser;
  5. Betting and Pot money applies as reflective of gambling. Betting by the people watching will go for as low as P 5.00 and would rise up to P 20- P 100, while pot money is total money of the two players which ranges from P 500 to P 2000 pesos.
Well, I hope that the info here is helpful enough for you.

Honoring All Veterans..

0 leaps and a turtle dive
This was what Debbie sent me today. I am quite touched with her email as both my grandfathers were Philippine Veterans who died without even enjoying any respect or given credit for their heroism during the war.. And though Memorial Day is a day for honoring US Veterans, I think it matters not which country  veterans serve, whatever nationality, I have observed that it is a universal thing that veterans are the ones who  are more patriotic but are less given the credit.. so I am sharing this here. Hope all of us give honor and respect to them while they are still alive----

Hi---

Hope you enjoyed your family and had a great Bar-B-Q -- we sure had a great weekend.  In celebrating, we want to remember the fallen military -- who have given us the freedoms we so easily enjoy.  This poem was written by

It is the
VETERAN
,
 not the preacher,
who has given us freedom of religion

It is
the
 VETERAN,
 not the reporter,
who has given us freedom of the press.

It is
the
 VETERAN,
 not the poet,
who has given us freedom of speech.

It is
the
 VETERAN,
not the campus organizer,
who has given us freedom to assemble.

It is
the
 VETERAN,
 not the lawyer,
who has given us the right to a fair trial.

It is
the
 VETERAN,
 not the politician,
Who has given us the right to vote.

It is the

VETERAN
 who
salutes the Flag,

It is
the

VETERAN
who serves
under the Flag,

Eternal Rest Grant Them O Lord, and Let Perpetual Light Shine Upon Them.
*****
A BIG Thank You from the Wysocki Family to all those men and women who have served and currently serve in  the military -- especially to my brother (ex Navy -- Now catching Bad Guys for the Feds), and my Sister and and Brother-in-Law, bother Master Sargents in the Air Force

How You Do Anything Is How You Do Everything.
